Shade and Membrane Structures Australia were engaged by the great team at Trendsetter Homes to complete the design and construction of 2,100sqm of new car park shade structures across six new structures for the Roselea Village Shopping Center site in Balcatta, WA.
This greenfield project involved the design, fabrication, and construction of car park shade structures. The car park shade structure design had to keep consistent with the architect’s vision for the site while providing function for shoppers. The overall end product complements the modern “village” shopping centre design while providing enough shade and protection from the harsh West Australian sun.
This project was complicated with the COVID restrictions that came into place during the project. Given the current COVID crisis and some abysmal weather, logistics and installation programs were made extremely difficult for everyone; however, a big thanks goes out to all of our dedicated network, who helped us tremendously on this project. We are very fortunate to have both an in-house team and a great network of construction partners – we can’t complete all of our great projects without their skills, efforts, understanding and high standards. All did absolutely fantastic work, and SMSA was able to successfully complete the project on time, on budget and to the pleasure of the clients.
There is a real movement towards a “village” style of shopping centre in retail precinct and shopping centre design and construction. This project was a great example of this and shows how well-designed car park shade structures can complete a shopping centre project beautifully.
