Shade and Membrane Structures Australia were originally contracted to offer on site Project Management and installation services for the solar car park shade structure and slab connections only to a supplier on this project. That quickly grew to include the exploration of the slab, design of the layout and the engineering and design of both the slab connection detailing and also the column connections to the slab as well. Throughout the project it became obvious that the head supplier couldn’t complete the contract for various reasons, so in negotiation and in working with the client Energy Action, SMSA effectively purchased the completion of the project so that we could then complete the project under contract ourselves to Energy Action. This included the design and installation of the purlins, the installation of the structures and to offer assistance to Energy Action with the installation of the panels as well (the design and layout of the PV portion was by others – but they simply ran under our banner and that of our sister company PV Structures to ensure a successful completion of the project.)
